There’s no skill, no machinery for it anymore. All of that stuff was designed around old school procedures, so now they have to retrain people, redesign stuff, and make a 1930’s production line to end up with something that’s heavier, bigger, and more expensive than a new aircraft would be. I just don’t see it happening without considerable revisions. And that’s money. They wouldn’t be resurrecting a cheap type certificate like this if they had money. They’ll probably just make parts, and this whole thing was designed to make headlines and garner attention to their brand as the home for the type now.

I love the catalina, been in them before and it would be a dream, but I’m a realist. In a way I hate this stuff, it’s like seeing them reanimate a loved one from the grave. It’s disrespectful, a dead end that will never recapture the magic. Just design a new damn boat. Or get the navy off its negroid ass and finish the amphibious C130.

Or buy the japs’ seaplane. Done. This offers pretty much everything the catalina does, and it’s in production, known, and has at least 60 years of modernization (likely more) baked in from the start.

Seems alright. They just plucked him out of the pile and decided he has the right mix to be used. When you’re on the production side of media you want certain things out of your talent like reliability, marketability, etc. Guy’s got them, from the little bits I’ve seen. He’ll be palatably libertarian, generically conservative but never spicy or inflammatory. More a win for us that it would ever be a loss.

Overall it’s smart enough, like I said the con,inc method is aging. Not sure they’ll be able to brute-force their way to “virality” again so easily.

Now this guy’s just a singer, but big things start small. As far as mass introductions go, this guy got it MADE. He went from nobody to “national sensation” from the outset. Benign, inoffensively rebellious stuff like this is perfect for them. It doesn’t have to be politically impactful as much as it does entertaining and good enough to make lifetime fans.

Daily wire said they have 1M+ subscribers and $200M in revenue last year (if you believe them). That’s a lot of people who want new stuff to watch and enjoy. If all it takes to kickstart a new face is a cheesy shill campaign, that’s damn cheap advertising.
