What if instead of just focusing on dating, someone wrote tools to connect you to whatever kind of Nostr user you were looking for in a much more general way?

This could ALSO be used for dating, but so much more, which could make it a really good thing to invent even now.

Tools that could help you filter profiles by content, tone, keywords… and for dating purposes sex, age, and availability… and instead of trusting one algorithm, you could a-la-carte what components you care about, and (if you’re technically inclined) even SEE how the tool works.

You could use it to find a date on Nostr… but at this point in time, I actually think more people would use it to find profiles they enjoy platonically, businesses they’d like to buy from, people they want to hire.

I’m just getting into the dev side of things with Nostr, but you could have a relay specifically for this. However if you’re using your primary user - all that stuff is going to be discoverable… so, people probably don’t want to air all their personal secret stuff.

I think generally meeting more people who are into things that pique your interest would lead to more _in-person_ events, which would in turn lead to more people meeting people they’d actually want to know (and who they could date in that natural way things work out).

What would your ideal search story look like for finding new friends here?
