Someone made a great point by clarifying that agriculture consumes far more water than pools, which provides good context. The water wars of the West are really interesting, but it's difficult to see how they can be solved politically. Any thoughts?

Built in 2007, Tianducheng is an estate on the outskirts of Hangzhou, China, designed as a replica of Paris. It was intended to house 30,000 people, but currently has less than 10% occupancy and is considered a ghost town. (Nomadasaurus)

The transformation of I-35 in Austin from a tree-lined boulevard to an 8-lane grade-separated highway is an example of why Texas roads contribute to 0.48% of TOTAL worldwide CO2 emissions. Oh, and they're working on expanding it further.

Route map for those curious. Nearly 17% of those who go to Denali National Park arrive by train, but it’s always been on my bucket list to see Alaska’s beauty by this train.

It does have an Alaska Railroad stop and a cruise line stop, so it may be related to those. Additionally, there is a lot of land that may need to be patrolled, although I'm not sure about Alaska's wildlife jurisdictions.

I don't mean this rhetorically, I am fascinated by this town and am curious if someone who understands Alaska municipal governance would know why the cost is so high for a single building? whittieralaska.gov/wp-conten…

It's 42% of the budget, which isn't crazy given how big police budgets are, but I am curious as to what administrative responsibility this department has over a town of 273 people to need such a huge police budget? The fire budget is 3% of the size lol!
