I’m fascinated. My kid is in the beginning phases of this right now. Reading this I feel like I should just look away more often than I do, haha.

Also, my friend who grew up in Cork City, Ireland, told me an interesting example of this. According to him, during a certain time of year all the kids go around collecting a particular mushroom outside the city to brew a mushroom tea. He said only children do this, and then they spend the rest of the day daydreaming :)

This book as well as Demian by Hermann Hesse and Grendel by John Gardner were transformative to me as a teenage boy.
