Everything old is new again on Nostr

Yet again it turns out the narrative that was totally, certainly, definitely happening in a particular way and doncha forget about it was not as advertised from the usual suspects. The stupidity and sanctimony have been dialed up to maximum levels.

The renovation will be televised.

The throne J. Pow requested as part of the Eccles Building renovations is totally gratuitous and way over budget.

Been having issues receiving on WoS since last night with the provided LN url but the invoice still works so if youβre unable to zap me please let me know, Iβll zap back for trying.
The Eccles Building renovation went over budget because the new assistant under J. Powβs desk wanted LEED certification.

Definitely my stupidest post yet on Nostr. Look at me not realizing Damus is making life easierβ¦
Anyone else seeing WoS only letting you zap exactly 1,000 sats (no more no less)?
Next level for sure! A video focused content creator who isnβt actively trying to figure out how to exist on a YouTube like Nostr client right now isnβt trying hard enough IMHO. If someoneβs genuinely interested in putting out monetized censorship resistant content Nostrβs the place.
- Why Nostr eventually swallows centralized content platforms by inverting their business models and returning market power to creators -
Thereβs been plenty of discussion about how Nostr is disrupting Twitter but thatβs only the beginning. Other centralized platforms that content creators are beholden to for their so-called βnetwork effectsβ are also ripe for disruption. Consider how lame and common it is that artists, writers, podcasters, and other content creators without a personal website or direct newsletter have to ask you to subscribe to [insert centralized platform name here] to monetize what they do. With Nostr, the creators can drive traffic to themselves and the various clients allow for direct monetization via the relays and zaps without cutting in a third party platform.
When diverse kinds of content can be presented in an aesthetically pleasing, easily accessible manner on a heterogeneous menu of Nostr clients, whatβs the purpose of centralized platforms like Twitter, Substack, Patreon, and Twitch, just to name a few? If people increasingly exist on a global censorship resistant protocol then it naturally follows that content creators will want to exist and monetize their content there too.
How can Nostr clients exist in such a way that long form writers, podcasters, shitposters, streamers, and others can present what they do in a way that makes leaving centralized platforms undeniable? As someone who can contribute more words than code I will be the first to say that I have the utmost respect for the developers and this is not a criticism of what they do in any way. Itβs simply trying to lay out a vision for how I see Nostr adoption evolving and growing to meet the needs of a larger network of people as they begin to evolve their habits away from centralized platforms to a fresher future of decentralized, censorship free communication and media that features an organic exchange of ideas with value for value instead of value for algo.
I believe the easier it is to consume long form writing, microblogging, art, podcasts, and other content on clients using Nostr as the underlying protocol the brighter the future will be for both Nostr and Bitcoin adoption. Bullish!
