Was looking to some alternatives, each I tried, the above and Matrix too, installed an instance.

Couldn’t find much to follow. You still want your daily feed of news and community interaction, but couldn’t find much of a community in any of those. Maybe, surely, didn’t it right or didn’t let it mature enough. Nevertheless, the Nostr concept of connecting to relays seems pretty good to me.

Just curiosity…

Repeating myself, sorry, just new in here. Was wondering how many took the “scenic route” like trying Mastodon, Misskey, Pleroma, etc, etc before getting on Nostr.

Hello all, something not clear to me. I “05-nipped” (yes, it’s a term ;) ) my account to have it verified, yet I can see two “types” of accounts showing up in the timeline, like in the screen attached. One shows up just with a name, the other with the @xxx part. Anybody knows why?

I’m not any of the two accounts in the screen of course, just an example.

I’m new to Nostr

Currently using Damus which is pretty good I must admit

#TechTip, in case you’re a Nostr relay noob like me.

I thought about starting my own relay (nostr-rs-relay) and made it egoistically private, only my events are preserved. (I’m now thinking about a public instance but really need to weight the resources needed, won’t be a paid relay).

In the config.toml make sure that the pubkey you add to the whitelist array is in hex format and doesn’t start with “npub”. Thought it worked the same but didn’t. Silly me.

So this thing is actually real.

Been testing various open source platforms these last days, Mastodon, Misskey, etc. you know these. Was looking for a good alternative to what other “free with ads” platforms were giving which I didn’t like anymore. Got an instance running for everyone one of them, I guess I could keep only the Nostr relay now ;)
