At #Nostrville during the live recording of #plebchain radio, Nostr being Bitcoin's third layer was discussed. Here are my thoughts:

Nostr has the potential to be a powerful tool for social communication and engagement, but it is important to clarify its relationship to Bitcoin. Nostr is *not* a Bitcoin layer three technology. Nostr is not dependent on Bitcoin at all and it can function effectively without it. However, the two technologies complement each other well, and they can be used together to create a more robust and decentralized ecosystem. From a technical perspective, Nostr would need to be built on top of Lightning to be considered a true third layer solution.

However, for Bitcoin enthusiasts, Nostr can be seen as a valuable social layer that enhances the overall community experience by brining us all together. For the broader world, Nostr represents a tool for freedom and communication that has yet to be fully discovered. It is our responsibility to #grownostr beyond our social circles and introduce it to new communities of users.

Besides, I truly do think that the purple pill helps the orange pill go down. And, given enough time, everyone that uses Nostr will see why decentralized communication and decentralized money go hand in hand. It's undeniable.
