World TeraHash x Bitcoin Average J/THash = Watts.
346,715,348 x 26.9 = 9.3 GW
Bitcoin Power Consumption = Watts x Hours/year
Power: 81.8 TWh per year
Bitcoin CO₂ = Power x gCO₂/kWh
CO₂ (Scope 2): 81.8 x 217 = 17.7 Mt per year
17.7 - 1.6 Mitigation = 16.1 Mt per year

If entire Bitcoin mining network consisted of Bitmain S19 XP 140TH ASICs it would require -
2,142,857 units (300,000,000TH / 140TH)
Consuming 2,142,857 x 3010Watts = 6.45 GW
56.5 TWh/year
My latest calcution for Bitcoin Power Consumption, Average j/TH & Emissions.
Back links greatly appreciated to counter the energy/climate FUD.
Cheers

World Hash rate just smashed the all time high 379 ExaHash !
I think the lights just went dim in Texas
Ok will have a look tomorrow 👍
Would love to but trying to figure a way without doxing myself on Telegram

I think the biggest benefit Bitcoin can bring to the climate is we are no longer forced to invest (usually gas & oil) to preserve our savings/ pension etc. I think this will dwarf the few Megatons Bitcoin is directly responsible for. This is what I refer to as “The Big Tomali”
