I've been dragging my feet on setting my personal Lightning node up again, but now that on-chain fees are high, I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and open some channels.
Running CLN on a Start9 Embassy Pro, managed thru RTL. Not looking to be a routing node, just want privacy, instant txs, and low fees. Gonna channel into ACINQ and WoS first.
Looking forward to hearing how it goes :)
If you're paying a WoS user though, you won't have privacy anymore. They can see who you paid. This is my understanding.

I understand you bought the device but it is essentially down to the software anyway. Do you think Start9 is superior to Umbrel?
Absolutely, 100%, and I'm not the only one who thinks so. And it might not do all the work for you, but it definitely makes it easy to have access to working tools. And their support is fantastic, too. They're pricey, but part of what you're paying for is a team of support engineers who can help you when things go wrong. And they sometimes do. They have really good Matrix and Telegram communities that can also help you along.
