Most operations in live are irreversible or one direction is exponentially higher in investments. For example is it much more work to forge a drinkingglass than to destruct it. Or encrypting a message is a small amount of work, while decrypting it without the privatekey is a lot of work.

#asknostr So which drection is the easier one? To treat a person with respect of humane rights, when she did not have them before. Or is it easier to take away the human rights from someone who has them?

Since my #prediction would be that the answer of this question will define if the world will be more free or more restrictive longterm.

Could also be a thing. But I could think more than tech it depends on acceptance or the lack of it. Since we have already a lot of services with transparent encryption.

Still many people and companies prefer a cheaper propriatary service than investing their time into learning opensource.

following your logic about the drinking glass example, does that mean that in the world more drinking glasses get broken than forged? this can't be true because we would run out of glasses

No I would not conclude this. Because still to break a glass, someone needs to produce one for sure.

This example was only to showcase, that it is true that many operations have unequal efforts.

It is rarely to have reversible operations: With hydro turbines, you can pump up some water. And when generating energy with the same water almost the same amount of electric energy is gained again. This would be a counter example.
