No, but there could be once we have relay browsing as a discovery mechanism. It does sound like a shady model that wouldn't work though.

More interesting would be a service that allowed you to pay someone else (a more "famous" account, according to such and such filters) to repost or quote your note -- and they would be allowed to provide any comment about it they wanted to, even if critical, they don't have to sell their souls.

I think that (paying relays to prioritize your message) is something to avoid, since it is the source of most problems with spread of misinformation and fake news in centralized social networks.

I havent thought about paying people to repost. But since there is no monetization directly from the network, i don't think this would lead to the closed "cliques" of influencers that repost their own posts in order to increase monetization. Maybe governments could finance something like that to spread misinformation?

They already do it through other means.

I was thinking about this. Actually, would be even more interesting the generic case: we can pay a user to publish and sign any arbitrary event 🤣

Because it's all JSON (please correct me), we can create a list of validators for matching value in specific paths of the event JSON. Operations like "Contains", "Equals" etc can be used... Okay, it's looking like a smart contact, so maybe I should stop right here.

But ads, paid reposts, paid mention to subject/topic etc etc can be done that way
