It is possible for nostr to be DDoS-ed or abused via overuse, illegal content, whatever. If and when that happens, nostr will be crushed. Most people will leave. Many of us devs will know that nostr is fine, and nostr survives, but the public perception will be that nostr failed. Growing nostr after that point will be nearly impossible.

I just want to avoid that outcome. I want that outcome to be impossible.

My support of the outbox model, my support for relays to be selective in what they allow, is all in persuit of making that outcome impossible. Maybe I'm wrong, or misguided, or not doing enough... I don't know. But my intent has only been to save nostr.
