Isn't this exactly the reason people are frustrated. It is the company to deliver the best hardware. So theoretically it would be ideal to run a Linux system on it. But apple is not pushing blobs for their hardware into the Linux kernel. For this all development for Linux on mac is very time consuming reverse engineering, that is not always clear someone is happy to invest this time. And when they do, first releases come very late after the product launch. Or rather close to the next product launch.
