There is no such thing as "the Nostr firehose", there are only selected relays. And you should never selected these unrestricted relays, and clients shouldn't make it easy or encourage you to do that.

I'm not interested in learning what you're seeing and what tags they use.

We cannot prevent people from publishing bad content on servers they own (or whatever server that accepts it), that's by design. But with that comes also the responsibility of clients and users of selecting carefully what relays they will use when doing this "firehose" activity. This is an aspect of Nostr that is very much underdeveloped, but getting better with clients like https://jumble.social/, https://www.nostur.com/ and https://nos.social/ leading the way.

Are you saying to use the relays these clients have initially? You can typically add any really to a client, so how are these particular clients “better”?

What does it mean to "use" a relay or "add" a relay? Please read the article I linked above. It's very small.

Using amethyst now. Smutty stuff has a warning which I appreciate and seems to be disappearing. Wish I knew better which relays to avoid though. Got the worst thing I've ever seen in introductions on primal. Might be here too but afraid to check introductions again.

OK I clearly have no clue what I am doing and need to learn a shit ton more…

Duely noted I will do better… sorry for kicking up so much dust here, guess it is time to improve my nostr game.

Again thank you nostr:nprofile1qqsrhuxx8l9ex335q7he0f09aej04zpazpl0ne2cgukyawd24mayt8gprfmhxue69uhkcmmrdd3x77pwve5kzar2v9nzucm0d5hszxnhwden5te0wpuhyctdd9jzuenfv96x5ctx9e3k7mf0rr5cq2 for your time.

Its not a rocket science. look at which relays the bad actor uses and delete these relays from your selected relays.
