We are living in the greatest time period in history. People are richer, freer and (largely still) more at peace than ever before. There are exceptions to this as always (Ukraine, COVID, the fiat ponzi scheme), and engineering minds always focus on what is wrong (so they can fix what is wrong), but we all need to recalibrate our overall perspective from time to time.

The freedom and good lives we have now should not be taken for granted. Use your freedom now to maximize your circumstances. Things have been and can be much much worse, so appreciate the wonderful life you have. 🥂

Agreed. But at the same time global existential risk is increasing. While it may be the best time to be alive, it's also increasingly likely that the lights go out within a couple of generations. (To take one example, how long can Biden, Putin, and Xi manage their nuclear armaments without a mishap that puts humanity as we know it at risk?)
