I think that's far more likely than them being of foreign (or aLiEn) origin. It's the only explanantion that makes sense to me so far. The 'nuke sniffers' story doesn't "scan." Testing their tech, testing public response, something like that is my bet.
Its beyond frustrating at this point that we don't have answers. I've seen them with my own eyes. There are definitely folks misclassifying planes, but there are also certainly non-consumer drones. They're big, very fast, and fly/hover way above 400 ft. It's very unsettling
I think it's likely an op to keep drones in the hands of the government only. Drones are powerful weapons.
I suspect they will keep the narrative going and then they will push legislation to "protect" us.
That makes a lot of sense.

I do think there are other options.. But Occam's razor and all...
The second place theory for me is the US government is collecting data for security purposes. For example they have credible Intel around a massive threat and are searching.
But the other is way more likely IMHO.
