It got so bad with the Vikings (Normans), they gave them Normandy (North Man Land) made a Norman a Duke

Then the Normans invaded England, conquered most of it, established their Monarchs, then told the French king they weren’t vassals any more.

There's an episode about it in the "vikings" series, season 3. (checking it, the siege actually lasts for 3 episodes, 8 to 10).

This is where I learned about it too. Then I spent a good half hour after every episode researching and reading more. Such a good series IMO.

First seasons were great. Later the story was streched too much, as in most shows with many seasons
