My biggest pet peeve with amazon orders...

Put 5 things in your cart... check out... see the total... get incremental charges over the course of the next few days for sometimes individual items, sometimes groups of items, and i have to go and tally up the charges and cross reference with the total of the order originally, or individual orders.

why cant they just charge me the amount once, and then if something doesnt ship, refund it?

You get additional charges after you've paid and it's been shipped? I've never seen that.

Or items price change while it's in your basket not purchased yet (I've seen this).

It is designed to maximize selling while minimizing the user's association with spending money.

Same reason only food and water customers have to start a tab. Entitled money counters accustomed to low information, Stockholm captured consumer base. They don't have to care about your inconvenience because they are rich and have no competition and hence no accountability. Not that I'm bitter and resentful about it or anything.
