nostr:npub1acg6thl5psv62405rljzkj8spesceyfz2c32udakc2ak0dmvfeyse9p35c sometimes when I visit a specific profile that I follow, like nostr:npub1u3jp6rhdw8fdps8k3nf4pr2slnd3j49vrnx6y6wahda8397zyc2qw7q7na for example, it displays posts from many days ago, then only after a blip of 2 or 3 seconds it displays the latest notes.

Is that because Gossip has only fetched these latest posts at the time I clicked on the profile? Shouldn't it have downloaded these posts naturally in the background and put them in my feed?

Hmmm. I'm also following nostr:npub1u3jp6rhdw8fdps8k3nf4pr2slnd3j49vrnx6y6wahda8397zyc2qw7q7na (everybody should be) and I just noticed this exact thing when I tried it. I don't know the answer right now. I'll look into it.

An answer just popped into my mind. Gossip doesn't load every event for everybody that you follow.. going back to the big bang and filling in all the gaps that you missed. Instead, it only loads the very recent events and presents a LOAD MORE button to get further back in time. If you wake up in the morning and start gossip, you might only be seeing events from the last hour or two. When you drill into a person, it gets their most recent 35 events which would go back probably much further as it loads those from the relays.

Oh that is probably the explanation.
