My GMail got overrun with spam so I started looking for better alternatives - and at the same time, I was getting much more concious about my privacy online, too. So naturally I would end up with ProtonMail. I tried their free plan for a while, and decided to put down some euros and haven't looked back since.

Only thing these guys suck at is with the snail pace of developing desktop software for their services... Proton Calender still has no desktop client, of any kind. Hydroxide, a third-party tool, is currently the only way to interact with it outside of their webapp or phone app.

Still... Rather snail-paced software dev than big brother watching my every email. :)
