I just ran by chance into a YT video of an African-American woman who felt that she just had to make a video to express how SHOCKED she was that her 23&me genetic test throws a 21% European ancestry... SHOCKING, yeah.

I think there is a good reason to teach "black history" in the US, it's just that they are not teaching the right things, by a long mile (and they never will, so anyway...)
