I hate politics on both sides.

But hanging out with liberals/progressives is way more draining. The vibe is absolutely defeatist. People with jobs think they're on the verge of being replaced with AI. People with mental illness think they're months away from being marched into camps.

Nothing catastrophoc has actually HAPPENED to them, and they're shuffling around like their entire life has cratered.

Yeah I feel like actual liberal people who are concerned about the state of politics and repression today should at least have the wherewithal to understand that most probably, *they* personally are not under attack.

There are masked men ( #ice ) running around American cities, racially profiling working people and throwing them into vans. You're probably not at risk of that if you're getting the bottomless mimosas at brunch.

But certain segments of the "elite" are arguably under attack... University professors, civil servants, etc. Now these people are probably going to do just fine, but they *do* have something to complain about.

Their doomerism actually

1) to normal people, makes their politics look like a miserable headspace to be in. It's a really obvious pattern that any midwit can pick up on.

2) misdirects their energy, making them thing it's all about them, and not the people they ostensibly care about
