What I learned most, from decades of refining my debugging skills, is that I don't ever want to put myself into the position where debugging is necessary. I consider every debugging session to be a failure and every hour spent debugging a waste that I should have avoided.

Debugging is inevitable, bugs will appear. It's better to be prepared.

The way I see it is using an actual debugger should be seen as a last resort. All pieces of software should have quality debug logging + good tests that obviate the need to use a debugger in 99% of the cases.
