Few decentralized social network developers actually want decentralization

The inherent contradictions of Bluesky

1) we identify the problems of centralized moderation and implement a solution that lets users choose from decentralized moderation providers

2) we override our decentralized solution by *hardcoding* moderation and recommend that *other apps* (!) using the ATProto do the same

"to provide a strong foundation that upholds our community guidelines"

Means they want to control human behavior

Prediction: ATProto will never become effectively decentralized

I'm still reeling from Bluesky breaking their own protocol with a hardcode & recommending others do the same

The strangest thing is that it was completely unnecessary

For "good UX" just set a sane default Labeller & Feed generator. Their own protocol provides the solution.

If they truly believe that hardcoding is the right thing to do then they MUST also believe that their protocol is inadequate

That's what they're telling the world

Bizarre 🤷
