This is the scene in the rearview camera of my intergalactic lightship. We've just triggered the trans-photon drive, producing a maximum warping of the space between our present location and our destination in the Lesser Magellanic Cloud. We're headed there to investigate the allegations that the LMC is actually *two* dwarf galaxies rather than one, as was originally thought.
What we're observing behind us is a distorted view of spacetime in our wake, including puffs and wisps of alternative realities and energies necessary without our present technology. Given the lightship tech we *do* presently enjoy, the trip will only take us two hours, rather than the 200,000 years it would have taken us if we only were able to achieve a speed equal to that of light..
