The dwindling numbers tell a grim story that those outside the circlejerk see as common sense:

Nostr is Just r/bitcoin. There were some who tried to make it a little more lively, but they were shut down. It was clear that the authors of the protocol and clients were more interested in zaps than building an interesting community (or, really, communities).

So that's what they got: a bunch of NPCs "zapping" each other fractions of a cent all day, smelling each other's farts, congratulating one another on their delusions of being the new banking class.

Every relay is the same. Every user is the same. Ever post is the same. "We are all such geniuses! PV!!"

You do have a point, but activity pub has a lot of the same issues. Outside of like 5% of the sites it's almost all literally the same type of users - the same ones I was joking about in my OP. Hell my instance that isn't even up anymore is on almost 70 defed lists and counting by the day, cause of being on some master blocklists. Honestly I don't give a crap about bitcoin I just think nostr is neat it solves the issue of defeds. Still doesn't solve userblocks but that I care less about.

The soydev issue is real though and something I don't like. Even mastodon apps don't do the user block shit amethyst does (that I know of I could be wrong).
