Besides the simple supply-demand issue, at least France is helping transition their farmers (not capitalists) to alternatives like growing Olives and turn the by-products of distillation to produce sanitizers, perfumes etc. In India, agriculture isn’t an industry and farmers in the past have had to resort throwing tomatoes (in protest). It’s not the simple, “Darn corporate and those capitalists.” - agriculture requires special contingency plans and safeguards because it largely depends on nature.

/Not trying to be a smart alec. Sharing because city-people tend to dismiss farmers and their tactics as confrontational or as if they’re controlled by Corporate capitalists.
