I'm only iffy on nukes. Anything short of that, including self-powered artillery is not only OK, but to be explicitly encouraged.
If it helps, nukes are made by private companies and sold to the state using fiat stolen from those they govern.
So in a roundabout way private citizens own nuclear weapons that are controlled by a bunch of gansters purchased using monies stolen by those very same gangsters...

My biggest issue is that the types of people that can afford nukes are usually the type of people I can't trust to not use them.
