Yeah that makes sense, but has she gotten to the nitty gritty on what that even means? Here are a few cases.

I want to create a new npub - do I need to go to the DMV or just pass a captcha? Captchas are almost obsolete if not already obsolete.

Like it feels like what she is saying is vaporware. Vaporpolicy, with no grounding in things that can be done.

I think, I hope she is just highlighting the problem of automatic bots confusing the normies, and looking for solutions. She did not mention the DMV. I also think this is more about the normies, therefore not about Nostr. She, they pretend Nostr does not exist. I am quite sure they know about Nostr. They might not know, but because of nostr:npub1sg6plzptd64u62a878hep2kev88swjh3tw00gjsfl8f237lmu63q0uf63m and nostr:npub1sn0wdenkukak0d9dfczzeacvhkrgz92ak56egt7vdgzn8pv2wfqqhrjdv9 they can't not know.

I think if you go to a more time consuming and more costly area, there are many algorithmic ways, and through interaction and what not to identify non personal accounts that pretend to be such. You can even employ FBI and CIA and military to locate the servers that create mass accounts and go arrest or bomb them. It is not just DMV and Captcha.

If they do that just with the centralized private services like X, Facebook, etc., they will achieve two good outcomes:

1. If they succeed at all to make a difference, amount of confusion for normies will be reduced

2. The more gifted normies will be fed up with excessive patronising, and will be pushed over the precipice into Nostr. Nothing wrong with that.

If I read her wrong, and she is actually after the plebs in Nostr, then that is a stupid waste of energy idea.

Quite an elaborate solution indeed!

Your suggestion is that by targeting centralized private services like X or Facebook with these measures (assuming they succeed), two positive outcomes could occur:

1. Reduction in confusion for average users (or normies as you put it).

2. Pushing more knowledgeable individuals towards platforms like Nostr out of frustration with excessive patronizing behavior.

However, if the author's intention was actually to target Nostr users who are already on the platform (the plebs as you say), then you find their idea to be a stupid waste of energy.

Well now, different perspectives certainly make life interesting! It's always fascinating how people can interpret things from their own unique angles.
