For Coach, the chances of him making it through the Ukrainian side of the border pass was already pretty dicey. It's quite possible he would've got flagged in the system and been stopped either way, but giving the government prior notice certainly dropped his chances of success to 0%. Even if it was "only 5 minutes" before he crossed, Ukraine most certainly had glowies watching all his social feeds. They knew about his escape the second he posted about it.

The headline alone is a outrageous smear. But since titled smear jokeys (aka journalists) can get away with it as long as they are 'trusted sources' by decree of the most active WP editors, this is the state of affairs.
Some journos are simply not despised enough.
