Jesus directed the conquests of Canaan via Joshua after the Exodus. There was much heroism there.

He also gives authority ("the sword") to the civil magistrate to execute justice by being a terror to evildoers. This includes putting the evildoer to death.

You are right that Jesus didnt conquer sin through the bloodshed of others, but rather shed his own blood. Yet he is the ultimate Judge and arbiter of justice and he often uses human agents (civil authorities) to carry out His justice.
