Are you guys really surprised? I'm a non-techie and from the very beginning everything I've been reading about this pointed in the same direction.

No, not surprised, just disappointed.

But to be fair, most likely haven’t followed this that intently.

I don't pay a lot of attention, but being on Nostr it's almost impossible not to read about it daily.

Once you put AML/KYC in a product, it doesn’t go away, ever.

In fact it just eventually becomes the only option.

Same thing I keep saying about "content moderation" and Nostr relays. Once you open that door, it's a slippery slope. And you don't slip down by yourself, don't worry, the "authorities" will push you down the slope with the argument that "if you can", then "you must".

Some people just wanna be governed harder daddy.
