Agreed, yet I think we should highly appreciate the corps that give large donations and orgs that distribute funds. It might not be the desired fully decentralized solution, yet we wouldn't even be close to an established funding of wide parts of the Bitcoin and Nostr ecosystem. Without them, we'd lack long-term grants and compared to other OSS areas, we can be happy to have mostly idealistic well-aligned donors, which provide the money with no strings attached.

Having said that, individuals supporting their favorite projects and devs is a hopefully growing part towards even more decentralization of funding. Personally I feel these donations aren't as much about the money as a virtual pat on the back. They show that the work is appreciated and worth all the effort. Every open source dev I've met so far is doing this for idealistic reasons, let them know their work makes a dent!
