I am trying to decide if spending pretty much no time on social media other than Nostr the last 17 months has been good for me or if it has been a disadvantage. 🤔

what makes you ask this question?
That's a good question. I am an OG online business and marketing educator, coach and trainer for entrepreneurs. Did that more than full time in the decade of my twenties. Built multiple training platforms and had created several social media platform specific marketing training products back in the day (FB, IG, Twitter, video marketing) Then I got burned out and went on a quite a long sabattical. And for a big chunk of that time kept in touch with my audience, and slowly transitioning to sharing more about my spiritual healing journey. It took me a while to feel into how it is that I want to get out there in the world again and be of service, provide offerings and in return receive needed provision and ideally experience prosperity. And multiple times I was starting to slowly dip my toes and experimenting rebuilding a brand, trying what works... Last I'd actually experienced some IG reels gaining just a bit of traction and had begun getting $$ coming in from my creative endeavours. I could have kept going down the content creator path in that way.
I didn't stick to it.... Once I discovered Nostr I got pulled down the rabbit hole that connected with my higher deeper purpose and mission path and had been the answer to the research and questions I'd been asking... It also felt more resonant to what I'd been meditating for a while on that was me seeking to attune to what I call "new earth vocational frequencies".
Anyhow. The question is could I have been fulfilling my needs for creating, establishing and having streams of income by sticking to using legacy social media than going down an idealistic rabbit hole into the mystery, the unknown and away from conventional culture that hasn't come with that - like a working proven model to getting paid? Am I making any sense? One brings security, the other pushes toward thinking outside the box, activating innovative mind and creative life force energy, and it's volatile (the other can of course also be gone I'm flash too).
This DOES make a whole lot of sense.
In fact, I’m also experiencing a little bit of that myself struggling with the internal tug-of-war whether I should put myself out there for the cushy job security for a consistent paycheck but sacrificing time spent with family & my hobbies.
OR
go all in creating value on Nostr with the use of AI as part of my hobbies & utilize nostr-related decentralized technology with hopes to establish a steady income to cover my living expenses (which in itself is not a sure thing).
Sadly the masses are caught in the legacy media as you say (TikTok, IG, etc) and sucked into fiat monetization via PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, etc. So until they value what Nostr & Bitcoin has to offer, we’ll have to make do, with what we have, being the minority on this side where the grass is greener.
Honestly it’s not worth going back to legacy social medias filled with toxic advertisements and trying to compete for attention. There’s a reason why you and I both suffered with burnout and sought out Nostr for its magical forest vibes and towards what felt like spiritual cleansing.
Let’s not lose sight of that.
We will be okay :)
Im pretty sure if you logged in X for a few minutes, youd be happy to just stay on nostr 🤣
Depends upon your goals.
What was the trajectory?
I believe it does not matter. It’s social media after all 🤷♀️
