I just figured out why the rig has been acting up which also caused streaming issues.

Basically Windows started running a service called "Microsoft compatibility telemetry" which, according to the internet, is SENDING DATA TO MICROSOFT. When that tasks goes active it chews up 70-95% of my RAM and I have 32GB of it.

Good news, you can deactivate the service but wtf is MS doing?

Yeah, noticed few ms instances running. Closed them but they eventually shows up again.

You can probably disable most of them in the task scheduler

most of this stuff is hidden away in the registry and not accessible for users to turn off without some knowledge.

100% but you'll find this compatibility telemetry bullshit in the task scheduler. Among some other crap that wasn't there a couple of months ago.

yes

they keep adding more.

I'm aware. that's why I'm vocal about it on here.

Microsoft are pricing themselves out of the market with these data harvesting operations they're running.

I think I'll likely have to switch to Linux in the long term.

What are you waiting for?

Well let's start with the easy stuff.

I work in a mine which means I'm on a 7 on/7 of schedule, 12 hours shifts. On my weeks off, I often do 2-3 overtime shifts depending on our financial needs.

At least two days are maintenance days, which include going across the US border to do some shopping, pick up packages and stock up on cheap gas. I usually end up helping my wife around the house with various things as well because she gets overwhelmed and is generally inefficient at times. She's young, she'll learn eventually.

I'm a husband and father so family time is important which also includes visiting friends. On my weeks off we also attend church on Sundays and I call my grandmother on Saturdays. Oh and we have chickens and dogs which require some work as well as the general property upkeep.

I'm working on developing my own fountain pen content on Nostr, Rumble, YouTube and anywhere else that makes sense. My wife and I are also building a small design and photgraphy studio.

I dabble in some Nostr relay stuff when I have time (never) and sometimes I sleep.

So as you can see, I'm not waiting for anything. I simply don't have time.

And what's the moral of the story?

don't run M$ software. they are no longer a software (or hardware) company. their business is surveillance, data scraping and selling that information. M$ is a #fiat megacorp.

if you need a PC for gaming, edit the registry to get rid of their junk like the telemetry and their AI and do not keep personal info on it.

if you install their malware (they call it software) in Europe you get a warning with the number of companies they share your data with. last year over there I tested and the number was over 800 companies they share with.

do not store personal data on M$ PCs or use their web based services. none of it is secure or safe. aside from the data issues, M$ has a long history or abysmal programming standards, and a reluctance to admit to or remedy issues.

run #Linux (safely) or your information is being tracked, collected and sold.

I am running linux but not on the gaming rig and I thought the windows version was well modified. They must have slipped some of this shit in with their recent updates. Gosh, I miss XP. It was the best Windows they ever released. Lightweight, easy to "anti-spy", barely crashed and overall it was pretty decent. Since vista it's gone to shit.

yeah sadly people kepp using M$ stuff. M$ has been going down this road because prior don't care and people don't know because no one reports it.
