It’s interesting. I know that in the Middle East Arab states the reverence is kind of family orientated historically. Generally smaller populations too and locals always know someone linked with the government and/or royal family and things kinda get done as a result. Known locally as “wasta” or influence. Complete contrast to Western “democratic” governments with large populations.
