Important for the network to be as decentralized as possible. If blockchain gets huge, only data centers will be able to run full nodes --> central points of failure that can be targeted.

If it grows faster but can be shut down, what's the point? Decentralization is priority number one, everything follows from that.

With new technology I don’t think this is as big of an issue as it used to be
