Ok thanks for explanation. Looked into geohash. Seems like a useful obfuscation method.
Yeah, we get the lat, long from the 100m precision and cut it forward to make it a 5km geohash with 5 chars. You can play with it here https://www.movable-type.co.uk/scripts/geohash.html
