Joseph was born in 1568 in Macedonia. He lived an ascetic life from a young age. He was tonsured a monk at Partoş Monastery. His humility and wisdom led to his election as Metropolitan of Timişoara. Despite his high office, he continued to live a life of simplicity and prayer, known for his charity and defense of the Orthodox faith. When the plague struck, Joseph ministered to the sick and dying. After a life of devotion, he reposed peacefully in 1656, his relics becoming a source of healing and comfort.
