If ordinals can’t be stopped, what is there to debate?

Morality and ethical considerations is all that’s left, really. Should you inscribe? What is of value as an inscription.

At the very least, we don't have to tolerate them at the social layer.

This is not your first bear market.

At the bottom, everyone is like crabs in a bucket ... just looking for something to argue about.

On the climb, we get to tell boomers that they are dumb and they're poor.

At the top the shitcoiners laugh at us.

Then on the way down, the boomers celebrate while shitcoiners consider suicide.

You know the drill.

The debate is over, IMO. I have gone back to building on Nostr. Bitcoin will do what it does. The chain will decide.

The chain always decides.

There's no real debate, just economics.

The only question is if the NFT folks can build compelling narratives that will drive folks to pay more than the minimum relay fee for inscriptions.

I'm technically naive here, but maybe users creating/buying NFT's for themselves should pick the relay fee, and for as long as the transaction (RBF) isn't confirmed, the "bid" for that NFT is still open, and someone can come along with a better relay fee to replace and close it off sooner?

Of course there is real debate, it can be disputed if an increasing fee can be incorporated in witnees from a certain weight, so that it is not proportionally cheaper to send a cartoon of a vain child than to open an LN channel to make payments in an impoverished country .

In the end it always comes down to who’s willing to pay more to get what they want like it always has been 🤷‍♂️

The drama of how humans like to control each other.

0.15.9 crashes constantly

More details? On the start? After a while?

Upon startup and also while scrolling. Also happens while writing a note for more than 2 minutes or around that.

Does it get slow before crashing?

No

How to upload avatar and banner image? I've tried but it's not working.

Bitcoin maxis who built their whole identity around using bitcoin the correct way are melting down. See their references to ordinals being sins, haram, bad for the soul, etc.

99.9% of them don't code, they just listen to bitcoin podcasts from other retards who don't understand bitcoin.

This stupid take won't age well.

You can employ Luke Dashjrs patch on your node. If enough people do that new attempts will get blocked out of the mempool and the whole idea dies.

Btw, get Luke on the show!

If there's enough demand (and therefore fees to be had), why wouldn't miners open a new direct channel to send inscription transactions to them?

Ordinals might be stoppable. It just depends on whether or not they pose an existential threat to bitcoin, or just an annoying externality. Prominent bitcoiners, like Adam Back, have suggested solutions, such as making arbitrary non-financial data subject to a different fee structure.

I think there is no debate.

Whatever pays the fees is right for the chain. Not a fork, not a miner censored transaction, no bullshit.

Bitcoin blocks as is

Some people are just incorrigible. Bitcoin should always conform to their personal beliefs and everyone else should fuck off.

Seems good for the fee market too, Re your conversation with Mr. Wouters. The fees being paid to miners will overtake the block subsidy before too long.

Will you run a hard fork that excludes them?

The mere ability to do something does not necessarily mean that it is the right thing to do. That is the debate.

They can be stopped with another fork and that requries consensus/debate

but the path of least resistance is probably to just let it happen, the ordinals, so... yea

你好

Removing the ordinals piece, this implies there’s no point in discourse around that which is perceived as unchangeable and philosophically I disagree. As for me, I do not intend to participate in Ordinals and truly do believe bitcoin will not be destroyed by this garbage. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t bother me.

If people got offended, I guess 🤷‍♂️
