What led to the disintegration of the Roman Empire ?

The emperor Diocletian attempt to fix the Roman inflation with price controls, and his plan failed. The financial policy of the emperor was the production of coinage (inflation) and its manipulations (interventionism).

The result : the supply of the foodstuffs in the cities declined. People were forced to leave the city because they had nothing to eat and where starving. So people went back to agriculture life.

More than 1700 years later, the modern government of the western world is replicating the same unsound policies.
