Bass of the day post. This is my Kala UBass. 5 string, solid, fretless, Koa top, California. It looks tiny, but sounds huge!

I want to try one of these badly. Also, they come in 5 STRING?! Could replace my Steinberger Spirit as my travel bass. Lol!
In all honesty, I’d just get a four string if buying again. The B is noticeably less thump and volume. Maybe something could be set up better, but I think it’s the nature of the string. I like it and use it as a 5 string, but I know the limitations, if that makes sense. I’d probably get the Bathiki Kumalo model if getting a California Kala. Also, there is basically no sound without an amp, so factor in a travel amp if so.
