Today in 1992, 31 years ago: in Mbale (Uganda) at 12:40 UTC a meteorite of about 190 kg falls in an area of 3 × 7 km. A fragment of 3 grams passes through a banana tree and hits a teenager on the head, without causing him harm. It is the second known case of a person hit by a stone from space (the first was the Hodges meteorite, on November 30, 1954, in the United States).
