A webapp runs inside a broswer inside the OS and an app runs in the OS. One has direct access to device resources while the other is limited by the chosen browser, and however many tabs it has open already.

And since apple only lets you add webapps to your home screen via the safari app that they control there’s not really an incentive to make webapps work better on ios. Is that right?
