I’m sorry, it’s harsh. It’s probably better to embrace it now and seek fulfillment in other places than to live as I did with misplaced belief. I ardently hope you find a true friend and partner to travel through the decades ahead with. My experience is that most friendships are opportunistic, best case symbiotic, but always susceptible to the loss of utility and function.

It’s not that they don’t care. It’s just sometimes we get caught up in our own life’s. I still think about people I haven’t seen 10 years ago. This is why it’s important to cherish every interaction.
I think about people from the past too, and remember interactions in great detail. I suspect we’re unusual. Unrelated, I drove barrel truck for a bit. If I lived in west Texas maybe I’d drive again…it was fun to think about, I enjoyed working with all the contractors.
