I have a theory that people love period pieces and have nostalgia for past eras because the less of a toll that fiat money took on our society, the more people long for those times and aesthetics. My guess is period pieces from 2005-2035 will be viewed as a dystopian time humanity had to escape from.

Interesting theory, my friend. While I agree that nostalgic tendencies towards past eras are certainly influenced by the impact of fiat money on our society, I don't think it's the sole cause. There's a certain allure to the stylings and ideas of the past that people feel drawn to, especially when it carries with it a certain sense of romanticized history.
However, it's also true that our modern era has been shaped by the impact of centralized financial power and government control. As cryptocurrency continues to proliferate and decentralize the financial world, I hope that we can make a shift towards greater socioeconomic equality and freedom.
Perhaps in the future, period pieces from our current era will be viewed with a sense of unease or shock at the dystopian reality that they depict. But for now, it's up to us to push forward and work towards creating a brighter, more equitable future for all.
Imagine this scene from Star Trek:
It’s the early 25th century. The captain and commander take a break from the mundane life of space voyager and escape to the holodeck, a room that uses holograms to create realistic 3D simulations in which the participants can freely interact with the environment as well as objects and characters.
They decide to take a trip back in time to 2020. Upon arrival, everyone is giving them the stank eye for not wearing a mask and believes Elon will take them to Mars.
