I just installed Linux Mint. 🖥

Unfortunately, my computer doesn't meet the specs for a Windows 11 upgrade (I've been running Windows 10 for years and years).

Anyway, Linux Mint is a very clean OS. 👌 Learning some terminal commands now. 😵‍💫

I'm sure I'll get the hang of it. My biggest concern is learning a new DAW for recording music.

Anyone using Ardour?

Depending on the type of music you make, I'd either go with Reaper or Bitwig (or both!), tbh.

Reaper for traditional instrument recording

Bitwig for electronic / Ableton type stuff

Granted, it's been years since I've used Ardour. But reaper and Bitwig are cross platform and have dedicated companies that work on them.

Ty for the heads up. I will try Reaper if Ardour proves unstable or incapable of meeting my needs.

1 day at a time.

I've been using FL Studio for years and years. Too bad they don't have a Linux release. 🤷‍♂️

Sure thing. Reaper is great. It used to be my fulltime DAW

What's it cost?

you can evaluate for an unlimited amount of time - with a nag screen for the first few seconds of opening it up.

But I think it's only like $60 or $70 to buy the license, if i remember correctly.

Very kind of you to indulge me. Carry on.

Um... yeah, that's kinda the standard DAW for me. I'd be happy to help with that.

I'll have time later in the coming week to learn more. Maybe I'll ask you some questions when I run into sticking points. Ty.
