However, a nuanced view, I am gradually building.
All politicians start with good intent. If they succeed, they don't wish to give up the job / life they enjoy, so they look around for other things to interfere in. This is where things start to go downhill.
Also, the nature of politics is that keeping your job is the number one goal and over rides all other goals. You either do that by pleasing the masses and do the popular thing not the right thing, or you turn bad, if opportunity arises and become a dictator or part of a dictatorship. Although you don't see it that way, you genuinely believe you are needed to continue the good work
Most of these "bitcoiners" came later, when it became a pyramid scheme to get rich with.
