Feels like there's one more move yet to be made by the democrats. Why bother pulling a coup for someone as disliked and bereft of charisma as Kamala Harris?

But maybe Biden was really just unable to function at all, and they needed *someone* to get them over the finish line. And they couldn't skip over Harris without looking racist/sexist.

I don't know. Feels odd even for them.

agreed.

seems like there is more to come. if they really supported her, why not elevate her to president NOW (clear path) and then have her run as an incumbent?

I've thought the same thing, but then they might have to figure out who to install as her vice-president, and whether that person could be approved by Congress

"Elevating" Harris to president now requires removing Biden, meaning they force him to resign, or they off him (God forbid), or invoke the 25th Amendment to remove him (but then who is veep?)

good points.

speculation here, but i feel like the donor class/Obamas made a deal with Biden (or handlers) to allow him to serve out the term and clean up remaining messes (e.g. pardoning his son)

i think we will know more after the DNC, but still tons of questions

They put somebody in place that has no votes with this move. How can Americans still vote? She was put in place. With no vote.

Maybe our lack of understanding of why they are making certain moves is because we assume they want to win.

What if they actually want to lose on purpose? Would their strategies make sense then?

I think they need to win this one because too many of them committed crimes and could get prosecuted for them if they lose power.

Unless the new people who get in power are on the same team as they are.
