Serious question, why do we even have a military? We own nuclear bombs, our position should just be, attack America and we don’t send aircraft’s, submarines or soldiers, we just remove you from the earth with a click of a button.
That threat should be enough to stop war.
What about the scenario, where america attacks another nation as has happened multiple times in the last 40 years?
"Surrender and lay down your weapons or we will nuke you?"
Seems like a bad idea. Especially if you guys want to "free the opressed and establish democracy abroad" again...
I said when we are attacked, my opinion is, we should eliminate our military with the exception of the guys who can arm and launch the nukes. Let the world know, do what you want on your own land, we aren’t here to free the world. Just don’t fuck with us on our land because we only have 1 way of defending ourselves and or retaliating.
Thats not what your leaders want. They want to project power all over the world and show the others who is the chief in town.
That’s not how Global power games work though. It’s all proxy wars and posturing while behind the scenes they rape and pillage, change laws and we all suffer while the few line their pockets.
You want proportionality in defense. If someone sends in 12 soldiers in a border raid, are you going to murder 5 million people in retaliation?
Are you even sure that the perpetrators were sponsored by the country you are nuking ?
Also, you need to be able to defend against pirates for open seas... nukes don't help there.
There are infinite scenarios where nukes aren't the answer.
